Make-do chairs were originally created not due to the fact that of their appearances, but since they served a function - to keep the person sitting warm from the drafts that many older fireplaces and homes had. Their history goes back to the 18th century when the "wing back" chair was very first created. While some people could obtain the newly styled chair, lots of people might not, so they would "make-do" with what they had, and built their own from an old chair by adding a high back and sides from whatever scraps of wood were readily available, and covered it with whatever fabric or quilts they had laying around.
I hand-craft each chair separately, so no 2 are alike. Why not use that quilt grandmother gave you that you are storing away and let me make you a distinct chair to utilize?
